Background

 

There is a statutory requirement to provide a Healthwatch service in each local authority area. The current contract, delivered by York CVS, expires on 31st July 2024. The service was put out to tender with the successful provider being York CVS who are commissioned to provide the service from 1st August 2024 to 31st July 2028.

To approve the following contract award:

 

Provider: York CVS

Service: Healthwatch York

Funding stream: Local Reform and Community Voices Grant and Local Government Financial Settlement

Funding period: 1st August 2024 – 31st July 2028

Provision:

·        Obtain the views of people about their needs and experience of local health and social care services. Local Healthwatch make these views known to those involved in the commissioning and scrutiny of care services.

·        Make reports and make recommendations about how those services could or should be improved as well as identify good practice.

·        Promote and support the involvement of local people in the monitoring, commissioning and provision of local health and social care services.

·        Provide information and advice to the public about accessing health and social care services and the options available to them.

·        Make the views and experiences of local people known to Healthwatch England, helping them to carry out our role as national champion.

·        Make recommendations to Healthwatch England to advise the ICS to carry out special reviews or investigations into areas of concern.
